Uploading your first video

Time to get your first video online. The whole thing usually takes less than a minute for short clips.

Open the upload dialog

From your dashboard, click the Upload button in the top right. A dialog called Upload Videos will open. The instructions inside read: "Drag and drop video files or click to select. Multiple files will upload one by one."

Pick your file

You have two options:

  • Drag and drop: drag your video file straight from your computer onto the dialog.
  • Click to browse: hit the Select Video Files button and pick one (or several) from the file picker.

You can queue up multiple videos at once. They will upload one after the other, and the dialog will show you how many are done and how many are left.

What happens during upload

Once the upload starts you'll see:

  • A progress bar that fills as the file goes up.
  • The percentage and the bytes uploaded so far.
  • A counter that reads "Uploading X of Y · Z completed" when you have multiple files in the queue.

Larger files (anything 100MB or above) automatically split into 100MB chunks behind the scenes so they upload more reliably on shaky connections.

Don't close the browser tab until the upload finishes. Closing the tab will cancel the upload, and you'll need to start that file over.

After it finishes

When the upload completes, the video joins your library. We'll automatically generate a thumbnail from the first second of the clip. You can change that to any frame you like, see Choosing a custom thumbnail.

Click the new card to open the video page, give it a title and description, and grab the share link.
